Squeezing Out The Last Bit Of Summer!
There’s something so special about the summertime. Long, light evenings. Days that seem to stretch on forever. Everyone is in a good mood, and it’s the perfect time to get outdoors, spend time with the people you love and make memories! So why not squeeze out the last bit of summer by finding ways to make the most of the warm days and nights before the cold starts to creep back in. Here are some ideas to go about it.
Alfresco dining
Eating outdoors is something we’re only able to really enjoy during the warmer months, so make the most of it while you can! From picnics in the park to barbeques on the beach, afternoon tea in the garden or eating outdoors at your favourite restaurant- there are plenty of ways you can enjoy this. Studies have shown that eating outdoors can reduce your stress hormones, lower your heart rate and your blood pressure so it’s generally better for your health too. And who can say it’s a surprise; we’d all prefer to hear plants swaying, the sea splashing or crickets chirping compared to a noisy kitchen.
Seeing the sights
Being able to spend time in nature is always special during the summer, the warmer and longer days make it easier and more pleasant to be outside. You could take a hike or a bike ride somewhere scenic, or just go for a drive in the car and go on a road trip if it’s a little too warm for you. We have some truly beautiful places to visit in the UK- from spectacular mountains in the Lake District to quaint and picturesque villages in the Cotswolds. There are brilliant beaches in Cornwall and breathtaking lochs in Scotland. Why not make a bucket list and see how many you can tick off before the end of the summer? Chances are you have some beautiful places nearby to where you live too, so you could always make the most of what you have right on your doorstep if you can’t (or dont want to) travel far.
Spending time with loved ones
Any day is a good day to spend time with the people you love, but there’s something about summer which makes it that bit easier. Everyone is happier and more sociable, and as there’s more hours of daylight it makes popping in after work for a visit much more doable. So why not visit a friend or family member you’ve been meaning to see, take a bottle of wine to enjoy together in the garden, and maybe even a gift ‘just because’. You can find companies like Gift Delivery offering same day gifts online too which is perfect for spontaneous meet-ups if you don’t have time to get to the shops.
Soon, the summer of 2022 will have been and gone, so why not make as many beautiful memories as you can while the sun is still shining. In a matter of weeks the leaves will be changing colours and the temperature will drop- so act now!
What kinds of things do you still have planned for this summer?
